ISRO had demanded from SpaceX that there would be no co-passenger satellite in flight with GSAT-N2.

Elon Musk's SpaceX company launched India's GSAT-N2 communication satellite with a Falcon 9 rocket at midnight on 18 November. The satellite weighing 4700 kg is designed for a mission of 14 years. It has been established from Geo Stationary Transfer Orbit.

This satellite will provide high speed broadband internet connectivity and digital video-audio transmission. GSAT-N2 has been designed in such a way that it will provide mobile internet facility in airplanes during flight.

This is the first time that the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has sent its communication satellite into space with the help of an American businessman's company.

It is noteworthy that GSAT-N2 is the first ISRO spacecraft to be launched into space from an American launch vehicle since 1990, before which INSAT-1D was launched.

India was dependent on France for launching heavy satellite

This is the first time that ISRO used Space-X's Falcon-9 heavy lift launcher to launch one of its missions. Information about this launch was given by ISRO's commercial partner New Space India Limited (NSIL) in January 2024.

Actually, India's rockets do not have the capability to launch satellites heavier than 4 tons. Therefore, it was decided to work together with Elon Musk's space agency.

Earlier, India was dependent on the France-led Arianespace consortium to launch heavy satellites.

The first phase was recovered approximately 8 minutes after takeoff. This was SpaceX's 371st recovery.

Know about GSAT-N2… The GSAT-20 satellite has been specially designed to improve communication systems in remote areas. ISRO said- GSAT 20 satellite will be named GSAT-N2 and it will essentially provide broadband internet facility in remote areas.

The weight of this satellite is 4700 kg. It will provide internet facility at the speed of 48Gpbs. This satellite will provide communication services in remote Indian areas including Andaman-Nicobar Islands, Jammu-Kashmir and Lakshadweep.

After being placed in orbit, India's Master Control Facility in Hassan, part of ISRO, took over control of the satellite. In a few days it will reach 36 thousand km from India.

Now know what is Musk's company's Baahubali rocket – Falcon 9

Falcon 9 can lift a weight of up to 8300 kg in Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit and up to 22 thousand 800 kg in Low Earth Orbit.

SpaceX's Falcon-9 is the first orbital class rocket that can be reused. Falcon Heavy is considered to be the most powerful operational rocket. The Falcon 9B-5 rocket is 70 meters long and weighs approximately 549 tons.

Its capacity is to carry 16,800 kg weight to Mars. On February 6, 2018, Falcon Heavy made its first flight. Due to this, Elon Musk's Tesla car was sent into space. So far Falcon 9 has been part of 396 launches.

During this period it has failed only four times. That means Falcon's success rate is 99%. According to experts, the cost of a single launch of the Falcon 9 rocket is about 70 million dollars.
