Three children died in a firecracker fire in West Bengal's Howrah. The accident took place on Friday (November 1) at Bazarpara in Uluberia, Howrah.
According to local sources, children and teenagers were rejoicing with the residents of Ward No. 27 of Uluberia Municipality on the occasion of Kali Puja on Friday night by burning firecrackers. Suddenly, firecrackers went to a nearby house. The fire quickly spread throughout the house. At this time, everyone can leave the house, but the three children cannot. Three people were burnt in the fire.
At that time, the locals informed the fire service and the police station. Later, the fire service personnel rescued the three and took them to the local hospital where the doctor on duty declared them dead.
The deceased are Tania Mistry (11), Ishan Dhara (3) and Mumtaz Khatun (5). Also, according to police sources, a burnt person named Manisha Khatun is under treatment in a private hospital in critical condition.
Police are investigating how the firework fire spread to the house and whether there was any other reason behind the incident.
