The ‘National People’s Alliance’ emerged as an organization supported by the National Citizen Party (NCP) with Dalits, Harijans, Scheduled Tribes and other marginalized communities. David Raju has been made Convenor and Kailashchandra Ravidas Member Secretary.
Today, Saturday, the organization started its journey through a program at Sagar-Runi Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in Segunbagicha of the capital.
The committee also consists of senior joint convener Rajendra Kumar Das, joint convener Manik Barai, senior joint member secretary Aruna Rani Das, joint member secretary Nipu Das and organizing secretary Hriday Das.
Member Secretary of NCP and Member of Parliament of Rangpur-4 Akhtar Hossain spoke about ensuring the participation of Scheduled and Dalit communities in all areas of the state. He said that one of the promises of the liberation war was the establishment of equality, human dignity and social justice. After independence our economy has grown, structural development has taken place, we have progressed in various fields. But unfortunately, Dalits, Harijans and Scheduled Castes are lagging behind in the promise of equality, human dignity and social justice. A separate census and proper data-based policies are essential for them. Besides, their participation should be ensured in all aspects of the state.
Akhtar said, we have witnessed that the people of this community still do not get the minimum human dignity. It can be seen in rural areas, those who do cleaning work, they cannot enter a hotel to eat after work; They have to eat outside. Although there have been some changes, this disparity has not completely disappeared.
This member of parliament from Rangpur-4 constituency said, ‘Scheduled and Dalit communities have been used as vote banks many times in the politics of Bangladesh, but their rights have not been established. Many times they are the first victims of communal violence. We want freedom from this discrimination.’
NCP leaders and workers along with members of Janjati Jota were present on the occasion.
