The United States has returned 12 more illegal Indian immigrants in the third round of handcuffs and legs. According to a report in the Hindustan Times of Indian media, a US military aircraft landed at Shri Guru Ram Das International Airport in Amritsar in Punjab on Sunday.
Of the 12 immigrants, the highest number of Haryana residents. Of the rest, 5 are from Gujarat, 3 are from Punjab, 2 are from Uttar Pradesh and 5 are citizens of Himachal and Uttarakhand.
Earlier on Saturday night, a US military plane was repatriated to 4 Indian immigrants. Of them, 5 are from Punjab, 3 are Haryana, 3 are from Gujarat, 3 are from Uttar Pradesh, 2 are citizens of Goa, Maharashtra and Rajasthan and 5 are citizens of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
Some of the immigrants sent back complained that their handcuffs and legs were worn while traveling. Open after reaching Amritsar.
However, there has been intense controversy in the country over the kind of treatments that have been made with Indians back to the country. Following the incident, the opposition parties of India have started criticizing the center. They are questioning why the Indian government could not return the country with the honor of sending a flight to its own initiative.
Responding to the criticism of the opposition, Indian Foreign Minister S Jayashankar said the US immigration and customs enforcement agency (ICE) is conducting the process and prisoners are wearing handcuffs for security as per the rules of this organization. However, this action is not taken for women and children. They are provided with the necessary assistance for the use of food, medical and toilet.
Jayashankar added that such an event is not new. From the 21st, 5,8 Indians have been sent back from the United States. Of these, there were a maximum of 2,212 in 20 and 1 thousand 5 in 2021.
The process of sending Indians who are illegally living in the United States will continue in the coming weeks, officials said. Every 5 days, Indian immigrants will be repatriated on military aircraft flights until everyone returns home.
According to the Pew Research Center, about 100,000 Indians have been illegally living in the United States since 2022. So many more may be returned.
Earlier, on February 7, a US military aircraft landed with the India. Six of them were from Haryana and Gujarat, 5 from Punjab, 3 from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh and 2 in Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, police arrested Sandeep Singh and Pradeep Singh, two youths of Rajpura in Punjab district of Punjab today. They are accused of being involved in a murder case filed in Rajpura in 2021.
