An SUV fell into the world famous Dal Lake in the summer capital Srinagar late on Tuesday night. This car was going at high speed on the foreshore road built on the banks of the lake and went out of control and fell into the lake. A young man died on the spot in the accident. Three youths in the car were seriously injured.
According to an administrative official, late at night an Eco Sport vehicle was passing near Lashkari Mohalla located on Foreshore Road. Meanwhile, the driver lost control and the vehicle collided directly with the road divider. The collision was so strong that the car crossed the divider and fell into Dal Lake.
There were four youths in the car. Hearing the sound of the incident, local people and police immediately reached the spot. After a lot of effort he pulled everyone out of the water. However, by then Rainawari resident Jamin had died on the spot. Police have registered the case and started investigation.
Pillar and railing of lake also damaged due to car collision
Three injured people were rescued by police and local people and admitted to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar. According to doctors, the condition of all three remains very critical. Local residents said that the collision was so severe that the roadside electric pole and the safety railing of the lake were damaged.
