Hundreds of houses in 10 countries were searched and the largest piracy network was dismantled

The police of 10 countries jointly conducted a massive operation targeting the world's largest piracy network. As part of Operation Takendown, they searched more than 100 homes in the UK, including Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and Romania.

The piracy network served pirated content to more than 22 million users in Europe. As a result, the network generated illegal income of more than 250 million euros per month.

The police operation is supported by the Audio Visual Anti-Piracy Alliance (AATA). Cryptocurrency worth 16.5 million Euros was seized and 11 people were arrested through this operation. Along with that, investigation is going on against 102 other people.

AAPA Vice President Mark Mulready said such large-scale law enforcement operations highlight the challenges faced when dealing with such sophisticated international piracy networks.

Mark added, 'We are proud to provide technical training and field support to law enforcement partners. These have helped them successfully tackle the most piracy networks in the world.

The operation is the next step in a two-year investigation. Europol (the European Union's police agency) was involved. Social media platforms and illegal streaming forums are monitored to find out about the piracy network.

In a news release, Europol said the operation uncovered evidence of other criminal activity in addition to copyright infringement. This includes money laundering and cyber crime.

At least 29 computer servers were seized during the operation. Hundreds of IPTV devices were also seized, which were being used to illegally distribute pirated movies, series and television channels.

Around 100 websites and domains have also been blocked. They are suspected of providing illegal free streaming services.

Matt Hibbert, director of anti-piracy group Sky, said the operation sends a strong message that we are committed to working with our partners to dismantle piracy networks across borders and hold their leaders accountable. We will continue our efforts to stop digital piracy and protect consumers from the dangers of these illegal services.
