Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib said, 'If any history is written denying the sacrifice, labor and struggle of the Chhatra Dal for fifteen years, it will be thrown in the dustbin. At the same time, underground politics should be banned in all campuses of Bangladesh.
He said these things at the 'March for Justice' program at Central Shaheed Minar on Saturday (January 18) afternoon. Earlier, the program started in front of the Institute of Engineers at 2 pm. Later, the activists reached Shaheed Minar via Shahbagh with a procession. Leaders and activists of various units including Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka City participated in the procession.
In the rally after the march, the Chhatra Dal president said that all political parties have united under the leadership of the anti-discrimination student movement in July-August and said, 'We are united against fascism. Those who want to ax the July-August movement should play a responsible role. I want to warn you not to take any action that destroys unity.'
Rakib complained and said, “The government and the university administration are not willing to bring Chhatra League leaders and activists to justice. All university administrations in Bangladesh, including Dhaka University, are not showing the slightest willingness to bring a leader and activist of Chhatra League to justice. The government thought that if the Chhatra League is only banned, their misdeeds will be covered.'
Investigation committees have been formed in various campuses including Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University to identify those who attacked the students in the July-August coup. But complaining that no report has been given even after five and a half months, he said, 'an investigation report should be given against the BCL as soon as possible. Their studentship should be canceled and brought under the law. We are not giving an ultimatum. However, I demand that the judicial process be started. The longer you delay, the easier their rehabilitation process will be.'
Demanding that underground politics be banned in all educational institutions, he said, “Since the terrible fascism like the murderous Hasina has fallen in Bangladesh, there is no reality of underground politics here.” Still if any political party is indulging in underground politics, we will assume that they are again plotting something like in 1971.'
General Secretary Nashir Uddin Nashir said, 'The murderous organization that has destroyed democracy for the last 15 and a half years has been banned in the Anti-Terrorism Act. But we saw that the interim government could not arrest any of the top terrorists of the Chhatra League. Not only the top terrorists, but the top terrorists of Chhatra League in every district, are now staying in Dhaka. I demand the arrest of all the leaders and activists of Chhatra League. I demand the identification and arrest of those Awami League comrades who attacked the students during the July-August coup.
