Yesterday’s big news was related to Byju’s founder Byju Raveendran. The American court has imposed a fine of more than 1 billion dollars (9 thousand crore rupees) on him. The Bankruptcy Court of Delaware City gave this decision on the petition of Byju’s Alpha and the loan giving American company Glass Trust LLC.

Now new labor codes have been implemented in the country. Crores of laborers and employees will benefit from this. The Central Government has created four new codes by merging 29 old labor laws, which will come into effect from April 1, 2025. With the new law, the employee will get the benefit of gratuity in only 1 year instead of 5.

At the same time, fitness test of old vehicles has now become 10 times more expensive. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has increased the fees for Vehicle Fitness Certificate Test in the country. These changes have been implemented under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (Fifth Amendment).

1. Fine of ₹ 9 thousand crore on Byju Raveendran: US court gave its verdict in the fraud case, had taken a loan of ₹ 11 thousand crore in 2021

The US court has imposed a fine of more than 1 billion dollars (9 thousand crore rupees) on Byju Raveendran, founder of debt-ridden edtech company Byju’s. The Bankruptcy Court of Delaware City gave this decision on the petition of Byju’s Alpha and the loan giving American company Glass Trust LLC.

Byju’s Alpha is an American company, a subsidiary of Indian edtech Byju’s. It was established in Delaware (USA) in 2021, with the main objective of raising funding for BYJU’s.

2. Fitness test of old vehicles up to 10 times more expensive: ₹ 15,000 for a 20 year old car and ₹ 2,000 for a bike; View new rates

Fitness test of old vehicles has now become 10 times more expensive. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has increased the fees for Vehicle Fitness Certificate Test in the country. These changes have been implemented under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (Fifth Amendment).

Under the new rule, now you will have to pay Rs 15,000 for fitness certificate for 20 year old cars, Rs 2,000 for bikes and Rs 25,000 for heavy commercial vehicles. Apart from this, fitness certificate for vehicles will have to be obtained after 10 years, which was earlier mandatory for 15 older vehicles.

Apart from this, the limit of gratuity has been increased to Rs 20 lakh, which will remain tax-free. You will get double wages for overtime and 1 day paid leave for every 20 days of work. These changes will provide better protection to workers, but will also increase the compliance burden on employers.

4. Motoverse 2025- Royal Enfield Flying Flea S6 Revealed: India’s first electric bike with scrambler style, will run 150km on full charge.

Indian two-wheeler manufacturer Royal Enfield has revealed the electric bike Flying Flea S6 at the ongoing biking event Motoverse-2025 in Goa. This is the first electric motorcycle in India with scrambler style. It was recently introduced at the automotive show EICMA-2025 held in Milan, Italy.

This is the second electric bike of the company. Earlier, the company had introduced its first electric bike Flying Flea C6 at Motoverse-2024 last year. The new e-bike is a scrambler version of the C6, which has been designed for off-road riding with a retro look.

5. There was a decline in gold and silver this week: Gold fell by ₹ 1,648 to ₹ 1.23 lakh, silver decreased by ₹ 8,238 and was being sold at ₹ 1.51 lakh per kg.

According to India Bullion and Jewelers Association (IBJA), on last Saturday i.e. 15th November, gold was at Rs 1,24,794, which has now come down to Rs 1,23,146 per 10 grams (22nd November). That means its price has decreased by Rs 1,648 this week.

Talking about silver, it was at Rs 1,59,367 last Saturday, which has now come down to Rs 1,51,129 per kg. In this way, its price has decreased by Rs 8,238 this week. On October 17, gold had made an all-time high of Rs 1,30,874 and on October 14, silver had made an all-time high of Rs 1,78,100.
