The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has exempted VAT on foreign doctors' fees, hotel rentals, appointment expenses to treat the injured in the anti -discrimination student movement. The NBR VAT department issued the order on Sunday (February 2).
According to the NBR notification, VAT was exempted from the Bangladesh government at the invitation of the Health Department or the concerned hospital authorities to provide medical care to the injured patients in the anti -discrimination student movement.
The NBR has released this in the power of sub -section 1 of Section 122 of the 2002 Value Added Tax and Supplementary Customs Act.
It is reported that the doctors did not have VAT on the ferry before. However, hotel rentals, appointments – were 5 percent VAT in these sectors.
