BSCL paid the outstanding income tax of Tk 29 crore together


Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) has made a one-time payment of Tk 29.15 million to the government for unpaid income tax for the first four financial years (2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22) after its establishment. The arrears were paid in June of the current financial year. BSCL said this in a press release on Sunday.

According to the notification, the current management took the initiative to settle the long-standing arrears after reviewing the financial management of the organization. As a result, a one-time payment of Tk 29.15 million has been made to the government. BSCL feels that this initiative to settle past financial liabilities is an important step in establishing financial discipline of BSCL.

According to BSCL, this initiative to settle past financial liabilities will further strengthen the financial base of the organization and also help in ensuring accountability and good governance in the future.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited. Imadur Rahman said, “Since taking charge, we have given utmost importance to establishing transparency and order in the financial management of BSCL. We have taken the initiative to settle the past financial liabilities of the organization in a phased manner. Paying back four fiscal years of unpaid income tax is an important part of that continuum. Our aim is not only to achieve financial success, but to develop BSCL as an accountable, sustainable and good governance-based organization.’

Note that BSCL has become a profitable company for the first time in the financial year 2024-25 as a state-owned company. According to the financial report of the company, the total income for the financial year under discussion was Tk 245 crore 13 lakh and the total expenditure was Tk 206 crore 77 lakh. As a result, the net profit of the organization stood at 38 crore 35 lakh taka.
