BCB in new trouble, suspended first division cricket

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) led by Farooq Ahmed is unable to get out of trouble, complications and controversies. Another complication in the many controversies of BPL. The first division cricket trophy was scheduled to be unveiled today. BCB's Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) was forced to postpone it. First division cricket was supposed to start from yesterday. Due to the situation, it is suspended for the time being.

BCB President Farooq Ahmed has taken five days from the club representatives. The clubs will not participate in competitive cricket until the demands are met within this period. The crisis originated from the draft of the Constitution Amendment Committee led by Nazmul Abedin Fahim. Last week, BCB's governing body was given a three-day ultimatum to scrap the proposed constitutional amendment to abolish the CCDM, reduce club quota councilorship and drastically reduce the membership of the governing body. The club representatives came to the BCB president today with that ultimatum. Their demand is that the draft constitution of BCB should be cancelled. To abolish the Constitution Committee. A new constitution amendment committee should be formed after the board meeting within a week.

Today, when the cricket organizers met the BCB president, Nazmul Abedin Fahim was also there. In the last October 31 board meeting, he was summoned and ordered to form a committee. Fahim's committee was joined by a representative of the National Sports Council (NSC) and three lawyers. Such a big amendment is being brought in the constitution regarding club cricket, no club representative has been kept in it. Even in the last two months, Fahim did not discuss the draft with the BCB president.

Today, a club representative told the daily newspaper, 'He (Fahim) saw it as an acid test after leaving the draft market, thinking to see what happens! Could have sat with us before the draft. He talks and meets with the president every day. Drafted such an important amendment proposal, did he discuss it with the president? He admitted that he did not discuss with the BCB president. Then the president said, he could have talked to me once.

After the discussion with Farooq, the former Joint Secretary of BCB Rafiqul Islam Babu said, 'Premier League and Dhaka First Division clubs have turned their backs. The first section is not starting on time. Club cricket and organizers have been insulted. They did not talk to us. Fortunately the draft proposal fell into our hands. The country's club cricket has been insulted in the questionable act at the beginning.'
