President Md. The National Citizen Committee rejected the new Election Commission (EC) appointed by Sahabuddin seeking his removal. At the same time, they demanded the formation of a new election commission under the new law in the light of the proposals received to reform the election system.
Citizens Committee spokesperson Samantha Sharmin said these things in a press conference organized at the head office of the National Citizens Committee in protest against the formation of a new election commission without the proposal of the Election System Reform Commission in Banglamotor on Sunday.
Samantha Sharmin said in a written statement at the press conference that a new committee has been formed under the controversial Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners Appointment Act-2022 enacted during the Awami League period. The National Citizen Committee is protesting against the appointment before the Electoral Reform Commission's proposal. It would have been reasonable to repeal this law.
He said, 'Since the new search committee has been formed, the desire of the party to change the law of the Electoral System Reform Commission is also being questioned. We are surprised by such a decision of the government on behalf of the National Citizens Committee and strongly condemn and strongly protest their actions. We think, this government is not able to fully capture the intentions of the people after the mass uprising.'
He demanded and said, “We reject the election commission formed under the fascist legal framework under the illegal president on behalf of the National Citizen Committee and strongly demand the immediate cancellation of the law along with the election commission and the formation of a neutral and uncontroversial election commission based on the new law.”
He said, 'We clearly observe that the government has been forced to form the Election Commission by yielding to the pressure of political parties before taking a decision after reviewing the proposals of the Election Commission. This work is a betrayal of the commitment of the mass coup! We would like to remind the government that the students and people of Bangladesh from all walks of life are partners in the mass uprising. Dr. only talks with political parties. Muhammad Yunus cannot take such a decision. We are the chief advisor. I want to see the realization of the aspirations of the mass coup in the decision-making of Muhammad Yunus and other advisers.'
Spokesperson said, Dr. Yunus must remember, 'He is appointed by the student-mob. He is responsible to the people including the young student community. We don't want to hear such unwanted comments from him if political parties don't want reforms.
At that time, he demanded and said, 'The president of the Awami League, Sahabuddin, who is a genocidal, must be removed as soon as possible. The Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commission Act of 2022 should be repealed and the Election Commission formed under him (Sahabuddin) should be abolished and a new Election Commission should be formed under the new law in the light of the proposals received to reform the electoral system.
National Citizen Committee convener Nasiruddin Patwari, member secretary Akhtar Hossain and various leaders and workers of the organization were present in the press conference.
