BNP will give its opinion to the government today regarding the constitutional reform


BNP will present its position to the interim government regarding constitutional reform. For this, a delegation of BNP headed by Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the party's standing committee, will meet with the constitutional reform committee headed by Ali Riaz on Tuesday morning.

According to party sources, the matter was discussed in the meeting of the standing committee of the party on Monday night. In the meeting, the leaders discussed the government's initiatives to reform the constitution. From that discussion, it was decided to go to the Constitution Reform Committee. Apart from this, many other contemporary issues are also said to have been discussed.

The BNP has already finalized a set of constitutional reform proposals including the introduction of a bicameral parliament on party lines, re-introduction of the caretaker government system, balancing the powers of the president and the prime minister. All these proposals have been finalized based on the 31 points announced by the party. Although these proposals were supposed to be submitted to the Constitutional Reform Commission on Monday, it was postponed by a day.

BNP has proposed 31 points of reforms aimed at repairing the state structure. According to related sources, there are reform proposals to be finalized including declaring equality, human dignity and justice as the basic principles of the constitution.

It is to be noted that the Constitutional Reform Commission headed by Professor Ali Riaz has requested the political parties to send proposals for constitutional reform in writing. The commission has already started discussions with other stakeholders including prominent citizens. The commission has given an opportunity to give suggestions, opinions and proposals to interested persons or organizations regarding the constitutional reform till November 25. After that they will sit in dialogue with the political parties.

The meeting started at 9:30 pm yesterday and ended at 10:30 pm. Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP's media cell, gave this information.
