Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam said, we have to do the work so that every people of Bangladesh gets the benefits of the July People's Uprising. We hope that the expectation for which everyone has protested and given blood will be fulfilled. The July uprising taught us to stand with dignity. With this confidence we can build Bangladesh anew.
He said this while addressing the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the 11th GSC National Scientist Mania at the Government Science College in Dhaka on Saturday (November 23).
Nahid Islam said, students are being deliberately tried to be controversial. Let us all be aware of this matter, behave responsibly. Disputes, conflicts among students are helping to present students negatively to the countrymen. If the students can be portrayed negatively, it will be easy to portray the July coup as well. No one can take this opportunity. We have protested for so long, stayed on the streets, it is time for us to form a state. We now have to use intelligence, use creativity. He also commented that we want to build Bangladesh to establish a non-discrimination society.
The advisor said to the students of the college, I don't need to be called sir, I am your brother. We will move forward together shoulder to shoulder like a mass uprising. If you make a mistake, correct it. If the nation needs it, we will take to the streets again. Until then, Nahid Islam asked everyone to focus on education.
He also commented that the families of the martyrs will be rehabilitated and the injured will be treated, besides giving state honors to the martyrs and injured of the July uprising.
Nahid Islam said, Zen-ji has shown the world that they can liberate the country from tyranny by blood in the movement and struggle, they are not lazy. The advisor also thanked the students of Government Science College for their participation and sacrifice in the July uprising.
Prominent nuclear scientist Professor Dr. Muhammad Shamsher Ali said, science does not progress if there is no whim in science. Those injured in the mass movement should get lifelong health care. Let the dreams of the agitators come true. He also commented that if the youth are given a chance, they will introduce Bangladesh to the world.
Principal of Government Science College Professor KM Aminul Haque said that there is no substitute for science in building the country. In this regard, the youth must take responsibility. The college is running on 1954 infrastructure which is risky, he sought the advisor's help in constructing multi-storied buildings in haste.
