Arab Finance – 4 Egyptian airports ready to be offered to the private sector

4 Egyptian airports are ready to be offered to the private sector

Sources closely linked to the issue of offering Egyptian airports to the private sector said that the first phase of the program includes Cairo International Airports, Sphinx West Cairo, New Alamein, Sharm El-Sheikh, and Hurghada.

The sources added to Al Arabiya Business that the offering process to the private sector aims to create demand and support the growth of incoming tourism to Egypt in conjunction with the strategy of targeting 30 million tourists by 2028 and doubling the operating hotel capacity to 450-500 thousand rooms in 2030.

She explained that the offering will be for the management and operation of airports and will not be an offering of assets, and aims to contract with international management companies specialized in operating international airports, which will have business history in various airports and the ability to market and promote, which is what Egyptian airports currently lack.

The International Finance Corporation delivered to the Egyptian government the technical study and timetable for offering the management and operation of 20 airports to the private sector, including 4 new airports.

On October 16, the head of the Greek Kobelosos Group, during a meeting with the Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation, Dr. Sameh El-Hafny, expressed his aspiration for cooperation in the field of aviation within Egypt, according to a statement issued by the ministry.
