Maharashtra News: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has canceled a program of writer-director Mahmood Farooqui. Some students and employees of IIT had written letters opposing Farooqui's program. After which the IIT administration decided to cancel their program on Saturday. The students' argument behind canceling Farooqui's program was that it would insult the victims of sexual harassment.
Let us tell you that writer, artist and director Mahmood Farooqui was convicted by the court in a case of sexual harassment. After which the High Court acquitted him. He was to present the play 'Dastan-e-Karna aj Mahabharat' based on the life of Karna of Mahabharata during the Izhar Mahotsav at IIT Mumbai. The cancellation of the program has been confirmed by the officials of IIT Mumbai.

According to the report of Times of India, reaction has also come from Mahmood Farooqui on the cancellation of the program. He said that I am surprised that IIT Mumbai succumbed to the pressure of a group about which I had never heard.
American woman had accused of rape
Let us tell you that in August 2016, the co-director of Peepli Live film Mahmood Farooqui was accused of rape. Delhi's Saket court had sentenced Farooqui to seven years' imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000. He was sentenced for raping an American researcher at Columbia University.
The American woman had alleged that Farooqui raped her in Sukhdev Vihar, Delhi. She had come to Delhi for her research work. In June 2015, the foreign woman had filed a rape allegation against Farooqui at the New Friends Colony police station. The woman also told that Farooqui had also apologized to her through email. However, Farooqui had denied the allegations against him.
