The state government opposed the PIL challenging the demolition notices in the case of violence during idol immersion in Bahraich. The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has fixed the next hearing on the petition on November 4. The government's counsel objected to the petition saying that the petitioner does not have locus standi to file this PIL. In such a situation, this petition is not admissible for hearing. On this, the court gave two days time to the government to file these objections in the registry section.
A division bench of Justice AR Masoodi and Justice Subhash Vidyarthi gave this order on the PIL filed by the Eastern Uttar Pradesh Vice President of the Association for Protection of Civil Rights. In this, the alleged encroachers of Bahraich have been requested to challenge the demolition notices issued on October 17 and give instructions to cancel them. It has also been said that the government staff is taking action to demolish the constructions of people belonging to a particular community, terming them illegal. Whereas there has been no encroachment on roads etc.
