Peaceful solution to Russia-Ukraine war, India ready to help; PM Modi's message to Putin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday stressed the need for a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. In his bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kazan on the sidelines of the BRICS summit, PM Modi made it clear that the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine should be resolved peacefully. He also said that India fully supports the early establishment of peace and stability. During the conversation, PM Modi said, “All our efforts give priority to humanity. India is ready for every possible cooperation in the future.”

This is Prime Minister Modi's second visit to Russia in three months. “My two visits to Russia in the last three months reflect our close coordination and deep friendship. Our annual summit in Moscow in July has strengthened our cooperation in every field,” he said. Modi also said that in the last 15 years, BRICS has created its own special identity and now many countries of the world want to join it. “I look forward to attending the BRICS summit tomorrow,” he said.

During the bilateral talks, Putin, referring to PM Modi's visit to Russia in July, said, “I remember we met in July and had a very good discussion on many issues. We have also spoken on telephone several times. I I am grateful to you that you accepted the invitation to come to Kazan.”

The Russian President further said, “Today we will attend the opening ceremony of the BRICS summit and it will be followed by dinner. At the BRICS summit we should meet with other leaders and take some important decisions.” Putin also said, “Russia-India relations retain the character of an exclusively strategic partnership and are actively developing.”
