BGT 2024: Mohammed Shami answered whether he will go on Australia tour or not, captain Rohit Sharma has already expressed concern

Gurugram. The Indian team is to go on a tour of Australia next month. There is a lot of speculation regarding the fitness of India's experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami. He said on Monday that he is not feeling any pain now. He is still not out of the running for the tour of Australia starting next month.

He bowled in the nets after India's opening Test against New Zealand concluded in Bengaluru. However, a few days ago, captain Rohit Sharma had revealed that there is swelling in his knee, which has affected his ongoing 'rehabilitation' to recover from the ankle injury suffered last year. During the program organized by 'Eugenics Hair Sciences', the 34-year-old bowler said, “I am happy with the way I bowled yesterday. I was bowling with half 'run-up' earlier because I didn't want to take too much pressure. But yesterday I bowled with full run-up.

Referring to the five-match Test series against Australia starting from November 22 in Perth, Shami said, “I have no pain now.” Everyone has been wondering for a long time whether I will be able to go for the Australia series or not but there is still some time left for it.

Rohit had said that he is not in favor of taking Shami for important series due to fitness. Shami also said that he would like to play some matches for his state team Bengal in the current Ranji Trophy. He said, “The only thing in my mind is to make sure that I stay fit and how strong I can be for the Australia series. I know what kind of attack is needed in Australia. I will have to spend more time on the field. I want to play some Ranji matches before this.

Due to this injury, he has not played for India since the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia on 19 November.
