Amidst all the difficulties, a new challenge has arisen before Pakistan. This is the challenge of increasing polio cases in the country. Vaccination campaign is starting here to control polio. But during this time health workers are facing violence. Although police have been deployed for security, the campaign to make the country polio-free is being adversely affected. Since January, Pakistani health workers have confirmed 39 new polio cases in the country. Anwarul Haq of the National Emergency Center for Polio Eradication said that this is much more than last year. Last year there were only six polio cases in Pakistan.

The new polio eradication campaign in Pakistan is starting from October 28. During this period, 32 million people will be vaccinated. Anwarul Haq said that the aim of these campaigns is to make Pakistan completely polio free. Despite frequent attacks on health workers, Pakistan continues its campaign against polio. Terrorists keep making false claims that polio vaccination is a conspiracy by the West. According to him, children are being made impotent by this vaccine.

New polio cases in Pakistan are coming in southwestern Balochistan and southern Sindh province. Apart from this, cases have also been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and East Punjab province. Officials are also worried about cases coming to these places. Because, till now they were coming from the northwestern border area of Afghanistan, where the Taliban government had banned the door to door vaccination campaign in September.

It is noteworthy that Afghanistan and Pakistan are two countries where polio has not been completely stopped yet. Officials in Pakistan have said the Taliban's decision will have a major impact beyond the Afghan border, as people from both sides frequently travel to each other's country. WHO has confirmed that there are 18 polio cases in Afghanistan this year. However, there are only two polio cases in the southern part of the country. There were six cases here in 2023.
