Two years since the July coup: 11 parties announce their 36-day program


The Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance has announced a 36-day program to raise public awareness in favor of the July coup, implement the verdict of the referendum and demand speedy trial of all the massacres, including the disappearances and murders committed during the Awami League period. The announced program includes meeting-seminar, picture exhibition, graffiti drawing and presentation of memorandum to the Speaker of the National Assembly.

A meeting of the Liaison Committee of the 11-party alliance was held at the central office of the Jamaat in Moghbazar of the capital on Thursday. Hamidur Rahman Azad, coordinator of the liaison committee of 11 parties and assistant secretary general of Jamaat, announced these programs at the press conference after the meeting.

In announcing the programme, Hamidur Rahman Azad said that from July 1 to July 15, seminars will be held in all districts and cities to implement the July Charter and the verdict of the referendum. Demonstrations and mass marches will be held in all cities and districts except the capital on July 4. On July 6, a memorandum will be given to the Speaker on behalf of the martyrs’ family before the National Parliament to raise the issue of human bonds and the July Charter again in the Parliament.

Hamidur Rahman Azad also said that a seminar will be organized in the capital on July 8. A discussion meeting will be held on July 20 with women MPs and women leaders of 11 parties. Apart from this, he said that a picture exhibition program has been kept during the month-long event.

This leader of Jamaat said that graffiti will be drawn all over the country including the capital on July 23, 24 and 25. Prayers will be offered after Friday prayers in all mosques across the country on July 31. Apart from this, he requested other religious people to pray in their places of worship.

Hamidur Rahman Azad also said that commemorative meetings will be held on various dates in July’s memorial sites, in which eyewitnesses and martyrs’ families will participate. Similarly, such programs will be held all over the country by identifying the places of occurrence. The rally will be held at all district, metropolitan and upazila levels including the capital on August 5.
