Jamaat’s anger in the Parliament by accusing women of arrest on ‘orders from above’, ultimatum for release today

Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed its anger in Parliament over the arrest of a woman named ‘Sauda Sumi’ in Bhola. Jamaat alleged that he was arrested for commenting on the energy crisis on Facebook. Opposition MP Rafiqul Islam Khan gave an ultimatum for the woman’s release and withdrawal of the case by calling this arrest a ‘prediction of the fascist government’.

He expressed his anger about this in the point of order of the thirteenth session of the National Parliament on Tuesday. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed presided over the session.

Taking part in the discussion, Rafiqul Islam Khan said, ‘A woman named Sauda Sumi was arrested by the police for sharing her Facebook status. It is said that he was arrested and booked “on the instructions of the above”. My question is – who do they mean by the above command?”

Demanding the government through the speaker, Rafiqul Islam Khan said, ‘The woman should be released within today’s office hours and the case should be withdrawn. Because, through this arrest, the fascist government can be predicted. But this government is a democratic government, so people can’t speak?’

In response to Rafiqul Islam Khan’s statement, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said, ‘It was not accepted as a point of order. Nor did he mention the rules. However, since you raised the issue and the Leader of the Opposition approached me about it, I tried to resolve the issue. But it is not right to give an ultimatum like an outside street sitting in Parliament.’

The speaker further said, ‘If required by the rules, you will bring in the form of a proposal. Every day many people make various comments about the government on Facebook, if everything is taken into account, the parliament will not be able to do other work. However, as the matter has been reported by the Leader of the Opposition, we are taking note of it and will take necessary action.’
