Kim Min-seon ranked 15th in the women’s 500m… Jeong Hee-dan 17th place

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Kyung-yoon = Speed skating men’s sprint ace Kim Jun-ho (Gangwon Provincial Office) performed an impressive race in the last international competition he participated in before the 2026 Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Olympics.
Kim Jun-ho ranked 5th overall with a time of 34.37 seconds in the second race of the men’s 500m at the 5th competition of the 2025-2026 International Skating Union (ISU) World Cup held in Inzell, Germany on the 25th (Korean time).
The gap with Poland’s Marek Kania (34.29 seconds), who won the bronze medal, is only 0.08 seconds.
Kim Jun-ho, who started in the 5-inch course, got off to a strong start and ran the first 100 meters in 9.51 seconds, second place overall.
However, the speed dropped slightly in the second half of the race and narrowly failed to win a medal.
Kim Jun-ho is a member of the Korean national team and is considered a candidate for a medal in the men’s 500m at the Milan Olympics.
He won one gold medal and two bronze medals in the first to fifth World Cups this season, including setting a new Korean record of 33.78 seconds in the second race of the men’s 500m at the first World Cup held in November last year.
Jeong Jae-woong (Sports Toto), who participated in the same event that day, ranked 10th with a time of 34.53 seconds.
The winner was Damian Jurek of Poland, who recorded a track record of 34.06 seconds, and Jordan Stoltz of the United States took second place, with a track record of 34.10 seconds.
In the second race of the women’s 500m held on the same day, Kim Min-seon (Uijeongbu City Hall) ranked 15th out of 20 participants with a time of 38.21 seconds.
He passed the first 100m in 10.59 seconds, 9th place overall, but fell behind due to a shaky back.
Jeong Hee-dan (Uijeongbu City Hall), who also competed, ranked 17th with 38.43 seconds.
The winner was Poland’s Kaya Geomek Nogal, who recorded a time of 37.25 seconds.
Femke Kok (Netherlands), world number one and world record holder, did not participate.
Cho Sang-hyuk (Uijeongbu City Hall), who participated in the second race of the men’s 500m Division B (2nd division), ranked 4th with 34.98 seconds, and Gu Gyeong-min (Sports Toto) ranked 7th with 35.19 seconds.
