Election Commission is favoring one particular party: Taher

Jamaat-e-Islami Naib Amir Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher has alleged that the Election Commission is biased towards a particular party. He said that if there is an ‘unbalanced’ election like in 2008, they will not accept that election.

He made such allegations while informing the journalists about the party’s position on various issues of the upcoming elections at the central office of Jamaat in Moghbazar of the capital on Monday (January 19) afternoon.

Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher said that the Election Commission is biased towards a particular party. Jamaat will take strong action if the chief adviser does not remedy this. Jamaat will not accept ‘imbalanced election’ like in 2008.

Taher also complained that several advisers were not informing Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus about various issues including violation of election code of conduct, not ensuring ‘level playing field’.

The Jamaat leader said that the chief adviser is not given all the news. If he does not know the facts, the Jamaat will not accept if the country is heading for a bad election.

When asked whether the departure of the Islamic movement from the alliance will affect the election of the alliance, Taher said that it will not have much impact on the election. The Islamists of this country are determined to give a verdict in favor of Islam or change. A party may have a different decision as a party, but that will not change the decision of the people.
