MDDA Sent Notice to 350 Commercial Establishments Violating Parking rules in Doon ANN

Uttarakhand News Today: Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has issued notices to more than 350 shopping complexes and commercial establishments violating parking rules in the capital Doon. MDDA has warned that if these establishments do not follow parking rules, sealing action will be taken against them.

This step has been taken in view of the incident of sudden water filling in the basement of a coaching institute in the central capital Delhi. Three students had died in this incident. Taking a lesson from this incident, MDD has taken strict steps so that such incidents can be prevented from happening.

Ignoring the rules marked
Traffic pressure is increasing rapidly in the capital Doon, due to which the problem of parking has emerged as a serious challenge. Many shopping complexes and commercial establishments are avoiding providing parking facilities, due to which the general public has to face difficulties.

Even before this, Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority had warned many times to follow the parking rules, but the operators of business establishments and complexes were ignoring these instructions.

Now MDDA has decided to take strict action against establishments violating parking rules. The authority conducted a detailed survey in the capital Doon, Rishikesh, Doiwala and Vikasnagar area and identified 350 such complexes and commercial establishments.

These complexes and commercial establishments are violating parking conditions. MDDA has issued notices to all these establishments and ordered them to improve the parking system, failing which they have been asked to be prepared to face sealing action.

MDDA survey results
After the incident of water logging in the basement of a coaching institute in Delhi, MDDA, on the instructions of its Vice President Banshidhar Tiwari, started investigating the commercial establishments in Doon and its surrounding areas.

In this survey, 548 establishments were examined, in which 350 establishments were found which were not following the parking conditions. These included about 250 establishments in the capital Doon, where parking rules were being violated.

During investigation, it was found that in many establishments the space earmarked for basement parking was being used for other activities. In some establishments, the ramps built for parking were unusable.

At some places, other items were kept in place of vehicles in stilt parking. Apart from this, at some places old and unusable vehicles were parked in the parking lot, due to which there was no space left for new vehicles.

Effect of sealing action visible
MDDA has issued a sealing warning to all these establishments and ordered them to fix their parking system as soon as possible. The result of this strictness was that many establishments immediately took steps towards improvement.

During investigation, MDDA had found the basement ramp of Raj Plaza unusable, after which MDDA sealed it. After the sealing action, the operators of Raj Plaza immediately started the repair work of the ramp and now the ramp is completely ready.

MDDA asked for report from engineers
According to MDDA Vice President Banshidhar Tiwari, re-inspection report has been sought from regional engineers. Sealing action will soon be taken against those establishments which are still violating parking conditions.

Due to increasing number of vehicles in Doon city, the problem of parking is becoming serious. MDDA has taken strict measures to address this problem and is trying to ensure that all commercial establishments follow the parking facilities properly.
