Islami Andolan Bangladesh has clearly announced that it will not be in the alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami, but the door of discussion is still open for them, said Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair. He said these things in response to questions from journalists at a press conference at the central office of Jamaat in Moghbazar of the capital on Saturday.
Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, when asked if there is still a chance for the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh to join the alliance, said, ‘We have always said that our doors are open to all. We still have the same message.’
Zubair said in the press conference that a very important session of the Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is going on from 9 am today. Among the main topics discussed in today’s meeting is the election campaign schedule, our election campaign work will start from the 22nd.
The assistant secretary of the Jamaat also said that a draft proposal of the detailed plan, i.e. in which district, when we will go to which seat and who will be with us, will be finalized today.
He said that the manifesto of Jamaat will also be finalized in today’s meeting. He said, ‘We will present it to the nation through a press conference at a convenient time after the start of the election process.’
Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair also said, ‘Our expert team has prepared several “policy papers” on various issues important for running a state. If we get the responsibility of running the country by the people’s vote, what will be our course of action, here is the detail. The expert committee members are presenting them today and it will be finalized in today’s meeting. These will also be available on our website later.’
Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair said that various issues related to the national elections, such as the current political situation, role of the Election Commission, level playing field and law and order situation are being discussed in detail in the meeting. As time is very short before the elections, we are trying to finalize all the agenda in today’s meeting through long discussions.
Regarding the remaining 47 seats, lawyer Zubair said, ‘We kept 47 seats. We have a liaison committee in this regard. We will inform you officially when they discuss and reach a decision.’
