Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will visit Brussels this week for talks with his EU counterpart on the proposed trade deal. An officer gave this information. Negotiations on a trade agreement with the European Union are in the final stages.
The official said that during the two-day visit (January 8 and 9), Goyal will meet European Union Executive Vice President and European Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic.
He said that the minister would leave tomorrow night. The minister will first visit Liechtenstein on January 7 to discuss ways to promote trade and investment between the two countries.
Liechtenstein is a member of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). India and EFTA entered into force a free trade agreement on October 1, 2025. EFTA’s other members are Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
