Due to low pressure storms and tides, telecommunications services are being disrupted across the country due to catastrophe.
Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, chief adviser to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, said this in a post on social media on Friday (May 7th) on Facebook.
He said the heavy rainfall was damaged in various telecom sites in the country. More than 5,000 sites have been down due to power outage.
Faiz Ahmed said the most affected areas are Barisal, Sylhet South, Tangail, Chandpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka North, Comilla, Noakhali and Chittagong South.
He added that at present, the total 5 percent of the country is in the main, the total site is 5.7 percent, and a total of 5.7 percent of the site is down. Emergency Portable Generators have been attached for emergency power supply and there are 5 more routes.
He also said that the workers of the telecommunications sector, including rural electricity, were working relentlessly to normalize the situation.
