The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a five-member squad ahead of the upcoming two Twenty20 series in the UAE and the UAE tour. Leighton Das will lead Bangladesh in the Twenty20. Sheikh Mehdi Hasan will serve as the co-captain of Liton in the upcoming Pakistan-Amirat series.
Leighton led the Bangladesh team on the West Indies tour in December 2021. He has had the opportunity to captain for a long term in 20 overs cricket. BCB has made Leighton captain till the 2020 World Cup. BCB Cricket Director Nazmul Abedin Fahim told reporters in Mirpur today.
Nazmul Hossain Shant and Tawheed Heart returned to the international Twenty20 through a visit to the Emirates-Pakistan. They last played Twenty20 in Bangladesh Jersey against India in October last year. Quiet, however, was not a regular in domestic cricket in the Twenty20 format. Last BPL champion Shant Fortun did not get a regular eleven in Barisal.
Soumya Sarkar, Tanjid Hassan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon are in the top order. Zakir Ali Anik will be the wicketkeeper batter with Leighton. Shamim Hossain Patwari is staying with Zakir to take the storm at the end.
