The minister added that this project comes within a package of green projects that the ministry adopted its implementation through the Egyptian Petrochemical Holding Company to provide green products that are environmentally friendly, and contribute to reducing carbon emissions, as the project aims to meet the upcoming local demand during the next few years on this type of green fuel, and opening new horizons for exporting foreign markets in an investment for the growing global demand, especially in light of the possession of the oil sector For the technical and logistical ingredients necessary for the success of the project.
And Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, stressed the importance of follow -up, coordination and integration between the authorities concerned with the production of sustainable fuel for aircraft, explaining that this cooperation comes within the framework of the state’s keenness to enhance the shift towards the green economy, and fulfill its international obligations in reducing emissions, stressing the importance of unifying efforts between the various sectors to support Egypt's orientation towards the use of clean and sustainable energy sources, especially in the aviation sector, which is one of the sectors The vitality and environmentally influential.
The Minister of Environment added that the production of sustainable fuel for aircraft (SAF) represents a pivotal step towards reducing the carbon footprint of the aviation sector, noting that the ministry is working in coordination with the ministries of Petroleum and Civil Aviation to develop a clear road map to support this trend, by stimulating investments and building partnerships with the private sector, with the aim of enhancing the use of this type of biofuel as a clean and safe alternative that keeps pace with environmental standards International. Pointing out that carbon certificates are not allowed to be sold or circulated except in accordance with specific controls and criteria, noting that the Ministry of Petroleum has determined the rates of reducing emissions within the national contributions plan for a number of priority projects, reviewing the mechanism through which the sale of carbon certificates is organized.
Dr. Yasmine Fouad pointed to the strategy of the vital economy that was prepared, as part of the state's efforts to enhance biofuel production in Egypt as a sustainable and environmentally friendly product. Explaining the developments related to used food oils, which can be used as a major entry in this project, noting that an integrated study on these oils has been prepared through the waste management regulator, as it is a value of value. She drew attention to the existence of the law of regulating waste management that regulates the use of these oils, where the necessary licenses are issued for workers in this field through the agency, stressing that all procedures for this matter are being completed.
Dr. Yasmine Fouad emphasized that managing all types of waste falls within the areas that obtain green incentives in the investment law, 4 areas have been identified to provide opportunities for effective participation for the private sector in investment, namely green hydrogen and electrical transport, waste management and mono -use plastic bags, where several incentives and privileges are available through the investment law for investors in those areas.
Dr. Sameh El -Hafni, Minister of Civil Aviation, stressed the importance of resettling the sustainable aircraft fuel industry (SAF) in Egypt, in accordance with the international standards adopted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) through coordination and close cooperation with the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority .. explaining that this trend comes within a strategic vision of the transformation towards clean energy in the aviation sector, and stressing the importance of strengthening the frameworks of integration and cooperation between the various ministries and relevant authorities In the country, in order to support the creation and development of the sustainable fuel industry for aircraft.
The Minister of Civil Aviation pointed out that the establishment of the Egyptian company for the production of sustainable aircraft fuel (ESAF) is a milestone towards enabling Egypt to lead this promising industry at the level of the African continent, praising the pivotal role played by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, because of its advanced experiences in the areas of refining and energy, contributing to supporting local and international production with quality and high efficiency.
Dr. Sameh Al -Hafni added that the project enhances Egypt's position as a regional center for the production and distribution of sustainable fuel, and translates its international obligations in the areas of sustainability and the environment, by reducing carbon emissions, and supporting the transformation of clean energy sources in the vital sectors.
