Ambassador's Facebook Post, Decision to Cancel Passport

Bangladesh Ambassador to Morocco Mohammad Haroon al -Ursid has criticized the interim government on Facebook. He criticized this in a post from his Facebook ID on Friday. In view of this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a notice on details about Haroon al -Rashid.

According to the notification published on Friday, Bangladesh Ambassador to Morocco Mohammad Harun al -Rashid was ordered to return to the ministry immediately in Morocco on December 5, 2012. Nevertheless, he left his duties on February 26, 2021.

The ministry says he delayed various excuses instead of returning to Bangladesh. He was reported to have moved from Rabat to Morocco to the autobi of Canada without the prior approval of the ministry. He was scheduled to return to Dhaka from Ottawa on March 7, 2012, but he did not return.

According to the ministry, today Aaron posted an article titled 'A Plea for Bangladesh-and Myself Subject: Bangladesh's Descent Into Anarchy Under Yunus-The World's Silence is Painful'. Where he has tried to depict the situation in Bangladesh after the interim government under the interim government, as well as the previous 'oppressive fascist government'. In his post, Aaron has tried to undermine the overall image of Bangladesh with various initiatives and efforts taken by the interim government including Prof. Muhammad Yunus.

Such writing on Facebook is completely unacceptable and its content is deeply worrying by presenting the current situation and reality under the leadership of the chief adviser. Such essay indicates the author's secret purpose or dishonest intellect.

Instead of returning to Bangladesh and joining the ministry in Bangladesh, he moved to Canada and started writing on Facebook. He referred to himself as 'oppressed diplomat', 'exiled novelist' and 'secular' through his Facebook post, which is mainly intended to gain sympathy abroad.

The Foreign Ministry has already taken necessary measures to cancel his and his family's passports. The ministry will take the necessary departmental action for Mohammad Harun al -Rashid.

The ministry does not provide such actions to any of its officials and employees in any way and will take strict action against those who do such actions in the future.

It is to be noted that after posting a Facebook post, the profile of Aaron al -Rashid was identified as Bangladesh's ambassador in Morocco. Last 7 August 2021, after posting the latest Facebook post, he did not give any other post for the last seven months. He became active on Facebook again yesterday.

During the government of Haroon Sheikh Hasina, the then Foreign Ministry was the Director General of the Foreign Ministry (current public policy). He then wrote a novel, which was published as a book, focusing on Sheikh Hasina's mother Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, 'Renu's Abir'. He was then promoted to Bangladesh Mission in London, UK as Deputy Commissioner.
