The country's immigration authorities have arrested five immigrants, including 4 Bangladeshis, in Malaysia. The illegal immigrants were detained on Saturday at the Paper Pole Market Complex in Klang, Selangar. Deputy Director General (Operations) of the Immigration Zafari Mobok said that 5 people were searched in the operation, which started at 5am in the morning. The detainees are within 3-5 years of age.
According to the news agency UNB report, some detained persons tried to avoid arrest by claiming the UNHCR (UN Refugee High Commission) card holders. Among those detained in the operation are 5 Myanmar, 1 Bangladesh, 1 Indonesia, 3 India and 3 are citizens of Nepal. All have been taken to the Semeneh Immigration Depot, where further investigation and legal action will be taken against them.
The allegations against the detained persons include lack of identity cards, visa expiry, violation of visa terms, carrying unknown cards and violating immigration law.
The expedition started at 5am and ended at 9am. The expedition participated in the Immigration, General Operations Force (GOF), MBDK and National Registration Department (JPN) officers.
Jafri MBOK also said that some people used 'guerrilla technique' to avoid arrest.
