Arab Finance – Arab Energy and Soma Bay inaugurate the largest water desalination plant powered entirely by solar energy


Arab Finance: Taqa Arabia and Soma Bay opened the largest water desalination plant operating entirely using solar energy in Egypt, with a production capacity of up to 3,650 cubic meters per day in the first phase, in order to meet the tourist resort’s needs for safe water.

A contract for the second phase of the same project was also signed, to add a production capacity of 3,650 cubic meters per day, and is scheduled to be completed within 6 months. This phase is a continuation of the first phase of the same station that was opened in 2022, and whose production capacity reached 5 megawatts. .

With the completion of phases of both projects, Soma Bay's renewable energy production capacity will reach 7.5 megawatts of electricity and 7,300 cubic meters per day of water, significantly enhancing its sustainability goals.

In this context, Pakinam Kafafi, CEO of TAQA Arabia, expressed her pride in her ongoing partnership with Soma Bay, saying: “We provide and manage tailored solutions with different production capacities to meet the needs of our customers.
