It will not work if you try to unite, but it will not work: Moin Khan

Abdul Moin Khan, a member of the BNP Standing Committee advised to be cautious in the initiative of national unity. He said, 'If you make a mistake while trying to unite, that unity will not work.' He made this comment in the speech of the chief guest at a memorial meeting at the National Press Club in the capital today.

Moin Khan said, 'Irrespective of caste-religion-caste, unity is necessary. No one can disagree with that. But I want to warn about this question, there is a word in English, “Unity in Diversity” – if we make a difference while doing unity, then that unity will not work. We have to be careful. Democracy is easy to talk about, but it is not so easy to implement it in practice.

Addressing the interim government, this BNP leader said, 'You are talking about reforms today, it is very good. Reform will be needed. Never mind, I say plainly, no reform will work unless we reform ourselves.' He also said, 'You talk about the new generation, where is the new generation? Has anyone of our new generation been able to vote in the last 15-20 years or two decades? He couldn't.'

The International Farakka Committee organized this meeting in memory of Atiqur Rahman Salu, leader of the river and water rights movement of Bangladesh, leader of the International Farakka Committee. Jatiya Party (Zafar) Chairman Mustafa Jamal Haider, Revolutionary Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque, BFU General Secretary Quader Gani Chowdhury, Jatiya Press Club General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan also spoke at the memorial meeting.
