Federation Cup Football is going to start on Tuesday at Shahid Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Comilla. But regular cricket tournaments have been held in this field. Even on Monday afternoon, it was seen that the cricket pitch has been removed from the middle ground. There is not enough preparation for the football field. So the question is why is football in a very inappropriate field?
The match between the current champions Bashundhara Kings and Brothers Union is going to be held here in the Federation Cup. Regarding the venue of the match, BAFUF senior vice-president and head of the Professional Football League Management Committee Imrul Hasan told Bangla Tribune, 'Tell me what to do. Comilla Stadium has been allocated to us by the National Sports Council for 6 months. Comilla DSA again organized cricket during this period. They know this time is allocated for football. Yet it did so. Due to which the cricket pitch was seen to be raised even on the day before the Federation Cup. Although we wanted to change the venue. But the Brothers Union did not agree. So the match has to be organized in Comilla.'
After this, the official said, “After the start of the league, we are going to start the Federation Cup.” The Comilla Stadium is the home venue of both clubs. It is the responsibility of the clubs to keep the venue fit for the game, not the Buff. How about leaving everything on the buff in the professional era. Besides, they don't want to go to good venues like Rajshahi-Nilphamari.'
Brothers Union has also given a counter argument. Their manager Amer Khan said, 'This time most of the fields chosen for the league and Federation Cup are in bad condition. These venues have been imposed on us by Buff. Brothers had initially written to Bashundhara Kings as their home venue. But that request did not last. Later I also asked for Army Stadium, Bangabandhu Stadium. They were not given to us either. Finally, I agree when talking about Munshiganj. However, later I came to know that spectators and media are not allowed to enter the venue. After knowing that, we refused to play in Munshiganj first.'
Regarding the change of venue of the match, Aamer Khan said, 'There is a big difference between telling orally and in writing. Buff did not tell us anything by letter. I think it is not the responsibility of any person selected by Buff. The people in charge of organizing the professional league should be the first to know that the ground is not suitable for playing. They don't really have any information. Clubs and players suffer as a result. And the blame falls on the top officials of Bafuf.
The Federation Cup is going to start in such a hurry!
