India has never acted in our interest: Rizvi Ahmed

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, 'There is an attempt to destabilize the situation in the country. No talk no message, suddenly an organization; The people of Bangladesh are not informed about whether they are legal or not. One of their leaders has been arrested for his controversial behavior. Some inside the country and outside are protesting the arrest of the controversial leader. The coming of this protest has put the people of the whole country in a kind of anxiety and people are noticing the matter with surprise.

He said these things while talking to the media at BNP's Nayapaltan office on Friday (November 29) afternoon.

Mentioning that Bangladesh has never wanted a neighboring country to stand on its own backbone, Rizvi further said, 'Because they did not want it, they cannot accept the fall of Sheikh Hasina in any way. So they are plotting by sending some people to this country to perform their horse sacrifice. They are mourning for them. They are complaining and protesting when they are detained. Seeking Chimmoy's release is India's direct campaign against Bangladesh.'

He said, 'India has never worked in our interest. Let Bangladesh die, let it be destroyed; It doesn't matter to them — this is Delhi's declared policy. If Sheikh Hasina was there, there would have been no hindrance to implement their immoral policies. Democracy-minded people of this country, since they have got some space for nationalist forces, there is an opportunity to advance democracy, you can get fresh air; These things do not look good in neighboring states.'

This senior BNP leader said, the sovereignty of this nation, especially the achievements from Bayan 2 (1952) till August 5, 2024, are being disrespected. This can never be accepted by the people of this country. Their behavior is very unfortunate. What is happening under the banner of ISKCON, a religious organization in Bangladesh, who is doing it?'

'We repeatedly criticized some of the issues of the neighboring states, protesting their injustice that it is justified; It was proved again through this incident. BNP has always opposed the Rampal power plant. Not only the environmentalists of our country, but also the environmentalists of India have said that the Sundarbans will be damaged if electricity is generated with coal. But when Sheikh Hasina saw that the Bangladesh part of the Sundarbans would be affected. That's when this project was allowed.'

The work of the thermal power plant started in 2016 and it was ready for use in 2022. Rizvi said, 'Our fears are becoming reality today. Fish in the river are dying, plants are dying. Sheikh Hasina has agreed to generate electricity by burning coal just to satisfy the neighboring states, to please their businessmen.
