120 killed in last 48 hours in Israeli attack on Gaza

At least 120 Palestinians have been killed in the past 48 hours in Israeli attacks on various locations, including a hospital in northern Gaza. British news agency Reuters reported on Saturday (November 23) about Palestinian health officials.

Among the dead are seven members of the same family in Gaza's Zeitoun area. Their house was destroyed in a late night attack. Separate attacks in central and southern Gaza also killed many others.

Israeli forces have intensified their operations in the northern part of Gaza. They claim that the purpose of the operation is to prevent attacks by Hamas and disrupt the group's reorganization. However, local residents complain that Israel is carrying out aggression to permanently evacuate parts of the Gaza Strip. However, Tel Aviv denied this allegation.

Hussam Abu Safia, director of Gaza's Kamal Adwan Hospital, said the entrance to the hospital's emergency department was damaged several times by Israeli strikes from Friday afternoon to midnight. 12 workers were injured. In addition, generators, oxygen supply networks and water lines were damaged.

An initial review by the Israeli military claimed to have found no evidence of an attack in the vicinity of the hospital.

About 44,000 people have been killed so far in the 13-month Israeli occupation of Gaza. Almost all of their 2.3 million people have been displaced. Israel launched this invasion on October 7, 2023 in response to a Hamas attack. The country has been claiming that 1,200 Israelis were killed in that attack and 250 people were taken hostage to Gaza.

Cease-fire talks have been held several times with the mediation of Qatar, but no progress has been made. Negotiations are currently on hold. Although Hamas wants an end to the war, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the war will only end when Hamas is completely eliminated.
