Maharashtra Elections 2024 | Maharashtra Elections 2024: 5 factors of Maharashtra victory

Maharashtra Election Result 2024: BJP led Mahayuti has got a resounding victory in Maharashtra Assembly elections. BJP alone has scored a century. At the same time, MVA has faced a crushing defeat. There are several major reasons behind the historic victory of the BJP-led Mahayuti (NDA alliance) in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections. These five main factors played a big role in the victory of Mahayuti.

1. Got the benefit of 'Majhi Ladki Bahin' scheme
The NDA alliance in Maharashtra benefited from the 'Majhi Ladki Bahin' scheme of the Maharashtra government, which generated strong support for Mahayuti among rural and urban women. This scheme was a big initiative towards financial assistance and social welfare for women, which was highly appreciated. Due to which the support of Mahayuti increased among women and especially among domestic voters.

2. Sangh landed on ground, held meeting and asked for votes
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) showed organizational strength during the elections. Sangh workers contacted voters door-to-door and appealed to support the BJP. This grassroots strategy proved to be a game changer in many seats

3. Mahayuti brought together 'small castes'
Instead of relying only on traditional Maratha and OBC votes, Mahayuti adopted a strategy of including smaller castes and minority communities. This alliance was successful in establishing a balance between different castes and classes, which led to huge public support in this election.

4. Mahayuti benefits from more voting
Higher voting percentage (70%) in Maharashtra benefited BJP and Mahayuti. In most of the areas, higher voting in rural and urban areas further strengthened the position of Mahayuti.

5. Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) lagged behind in convincing people
Mahavikas Aghadi (Shiv Sena-UBT, Congress, and NCP) was not successful in convincing people about mutual coordination and strategy. Due to their failure to give a solid and correct alternative to the public, they could not get the support of voters like NDA.

The swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra is likely to take place on November 25. Since the term of the Assembly ends on 26th November, the grand alliance can form the government a day before. Ajit Pawar's NCP will hold an important meeting on November 24 to form the government.
