An Indian-American leader has said that efforts will be made to impose sanctions on Bangladesh through US President Donald Trump and the country's Congress. He said that they will start working against Bangladesh immediately after Donald Trump takes power next year.
Indian-American leader and doctor Bharat Barai told news agency PTI that Donald Trump's post alleging persecution of minorities in Bangladesh before the election had inspired them. And by exploiting this issue, they will try to encourage Trump to impose sanctions on Bangladesh.
This Indian American told PTI, 'Trump has made a bold statement regarding the attack on Hindus and their temples in Bangladesh. He is a brave man, if the situation does not improve he may consider economic sanctions against Bangladesh.'
He also said that Indian Americans are actively working to reach Trump to impose sanctions on Bangladesh. This person also indicated that efforts will be made to impose restrictions on the garment sector made in Bangladesh in particular.
He said, 'If the export of their manufactured garments stops, which is 80 per cent of their business. So what will the people of Bangladesh eat?'
He claimed that such pressure on Bangladesh will help stop the alleged persecution of Hindus and other minorities. He said, 'If the situation does not improve, we Hindu Americans will also call on the Congress to take action against Bangladesh.'
Apart from this, this Indian American commented that India should also impose sanctions on the Bangladesh government to stop torture of Hindus. He said if they continue to harass Hindus and minorities. India should also ban them.
Barai said that many people are discussing the external intervention to overthrow the democratically elected government in Bangladesh. Now differences of opinion have arisen even among Muslims. Some believe that this coup is part of the plan of the American Democrats, which has influenced Pakistan and Bangladesh.
