New Delhi. The Indian cricket team has reached Australia to play the much talked about Border Gavaskar Trophy. This series has been awaited for a long time. Former Team India captain Virat Kohli was warmly welcomed by the Australian media. On the arrival of this star of the Indian team, newspapers not only gave him space but also made tapes in his honour. Some newspapers also made predictions about who would be the new king after Virat Kohli.
In the last few decades, the status of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has become like the much-discussed Ashes series played between England and Australia. The credit for this should largely be given to the Indian team's star batsman Virat Kohli. When the Indian team reached Australia for a five-Test series, the newspapers there honored Kohli in their own way when he stepped into Australia.
The Daily Telegraph wrote 'Fight For The Ages' in golden letters and kept Kohli at the centre. The size of this photo is bigger than the photo of Australia's World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final-winning captain Pat Cummins. Adelaide's The Advertiser used Kohli's photo with the Indian flag. Kohli's statistics are also given at the bottom of the page.
Additionally, The Advertiser used the nickname 'The New King' for young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. This left-handed batsman is expected to perform well in Australian conditions. Some players of the current Australian team have also described him as a batsman worth watching in this series. In another headline, Jaiswal has been called Kohli's “successor”.
