National swimming starts without electronic scoreboard

The same situation again! The Max Group 33rd National Swimming Competition is starting from Saturday at Mirpur Syed Nazrul Islam Swimming Complex without electronic scoreboard. Like last time, the tournament will be held in hand timing.

Earlier today, a press conference was held at the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) auditorium. Where there are several questions from the journalists regarding the electronics scoreboard.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Swimming Federation Molla Badrul Saif has not been in the country since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5. In his absence, Mohammad Salim Miah of the Federation is acting as the Acting General Secretary. Regarding the electronic scoreboard in the press conference, he said, 'We have discussed these issues with the youth and sports adviser. I have written to the secretary of the National Sports Council regarding our electronics score board. For now there is no possibility of solving it. So we have to organize swimming in hand timing again this time.'

In 2019, an electronic scoreboard was installed at Mirpur Syed Nazrul Islam Swimming Complex at a cost of Tk 5 crore. But it is lying idle. For that every year swimmers practice and domestic competitions are held in hand timing.

Swimmers will compete in 38 events for men and women. Apart from this, there are 3 events in diving and 1 event in water polo in the men's category.

Meanwhile, Max Group is sponsoring the national swimming. Engineer Golam Mohammad Alamgir will inaugurate the competition. Abdul Hamid, vice president of the federation and Ibrahim Khalil Palash, the official of the sponsoring group, were present at the press conference today.
