Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024: A holiday has been declared in Maharashtra in view of voting on 20th November. Mumbai Metropolitan Municipality Commissioner has issued a notification regarding this. In this, it has been made mandatory for businesses, industrial groups, corporations, companies and institutions, industrial undertakings and all other establishments to give leave to workers, employees, officers on 20 November 2024 to exercise their right to vote in the assembly elections. Instructions have been given to take action against employers who do not follow the rules.

Directed by Bhushan Gagrani, Commissioner and District Election Officer, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, to businesses, trades, industrial groups, corporations, companies and institutions, industrial undertakings and other establishments operating in the Greater Mumbai area (Mumbai Suburban District and Mumbai City District). All workers, employees and officers will have to exercise their right to vote. Assembly 2024: It will be mandatory for the concerned employers to approve leave on Wednesday, 20 November 2024.

Various innovative activities were implemented under the guidance of District Election Officer and Greater Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani to increase the voting percentage in Greater Mumbai region (Mumbai Suburban District and Mumbai City District) as per the instructions of Election Commission of India as well as Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra. Are being done. In this background, instructions have been issued to enable all voters of Mumbai Suburban District and Mumbai City District to exercise their right to vote for the Legislative Assembly General Election-2024.

The instructions given by BMC are as follows

• Every person engaged in any business, trade, industrial undertaking or any other establishment in the polling area where the election is being held and any person entitled to vote in the State Assembly election shall be given holiday on the day of poll i.e. Wednesday, 20th November, 2024 Will go.
• This rule will be applicable to all industrial groups, corporations, companies and institutions, industrial undertakings or other establishments etc.
• There will be no deduction in the salary of the person concerned in lieu of this leave. In case of violation of these rules or provisions by any employer, action will be taken as per the rules of the Election Commission.
• According to Section 135 (B) of the Representation of the People Act- 1951, no action shall be taken against any voter whose absence from duty would be dangerous or prejudicial to the employment in which he is engaged.
• Apart from this, in exceptional circumstances, workers, employees, officers etc. can be given relaxation of at least four hours if it is not possible to give full day leave to exercise the right to vote. But, in cases of such exemption, prior permission of the District Election Officer will be necessary.
• If it is found that any person has been deprived of exercising his right to vote due to non-availability of leave or concession, appropriate action will be taken against the concerned employer. Therefore, all the corporations, industrial groups, companies and institutions, industrial enterprises etc. establishments under the Industries Department will have to strictly follow all these instructions given by the District Election Administration.
