A five-day multi-purpose jute fair has been organized in the capital. The fair will start on the premises of Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC) in Manipuripara, Tejgaon on November 26. JDPC under Ministry of Textiles and Jute is the sole organizer of the fair.
JDPC informed this information in a press briefing on Monday (November 4). At that time, JDPC Executive Director Zeenat Ara, H&H Foundation President M Safak Hossain were present. It was informed in the press conference that jute-centric photography and writing competition is being organized along with the fair.
At that time, JDPC Executive Director Zeenat said that the fair is being held to increase the use of jute and jute products and to encourage people to use them. The government has taken initiatives to introduce jute and other products as alternatives to silt. This fair will be organized in different parts of the country. M Sakhawat Hossain, adviser to Ministry of Textiles and Jute and Ministry of Shipping will inaugurate the fair.
Regarding the essay and photography competition, H&H Foundation President M Safak Hossain said that by writing an essay (between 1,000 and 3,000 words) on jute, the contestants will learn more about jute and get interested. Registration for this can be done through the Ministry and JDPC and H&H Foundation pages. The production and entire supply chain of jute will be showcased in the exhibition through photography.
It is to be noted that preparations have been made to organize a single fair of this multi-purpose jute product with the aim of promoting and familiarizing the multi-purpose jute product and attracting its use. The use of polythene has been banned in Bangladesh since November 1. Hence H&H Foundation is organizing 'Golden Fiber Jute Still Painting Exhibition, Photography and Essay Competition' to encourage people to use jute bags as an alternative to polythene shopping bags.
Incidentally, there will be around 30 stalls of different types of jute products in this fair. The fair will run from 10 am to 8 pm every day. Various types of jute products including bags, office items, nursery items, home textiles, wearables, various types of shoes and showpieces will be displayed and sold in the fair.
