Iran has a strict dress code for women. Hijab is compulsory for women in the country. However, a woman has given a novel protest against this obligation. Citing a video that spread online, Reuters reported last Saturday that the woman took off her body and walked in only her underwear in a university in Iran, protesting the dress code.
In the video posted on social media, it was seen that the security guards of the Islamic Azad University of Iran arrested the unidentified woman wearing only underwear. However, it is not yet known what happened to his fate after the arrest. Not only that, two days after the incident, the woman's identity is still unknown till Monday.
The spokesperson of the university, Amir Mahjob, said through X that the woman, a mother of two children, was separated from her partner. He is under severe stress and he is suffering from mental disorder.
Meanwhile, social media users have given the opinion that the woman took that step knowingly. It was his novel protest against the strict dress code.

In the video that went viral on social media, a group of people were seen grabbing the woman and lifting her into a car. The university spokesperson said the woman was later taken to the police station. He also emphasized that women's health is good. With no clear answer regarding his whereabouts, various quarters are expressing fears about his well-being.
According to news agency AFP, an Iranian student channel on social media called 'Amir Kabir Newsletter' claimed the woman was beaten during her arrest while wearing her underwear.
Amnesty also said the woman was arrested violently. The organization demanded his speedy release. A London-based rights group has also demanded an independent investigation into allegations of violence against the woman.
It should be noted that earlier in 2022, the death of Iranian Kurdish woman Masha Amini, an Iranian police officer, for violating the hijab law, sparked protests across the country. At that time, a large number of women in the country took to the streets to protest against the dress code. The country's security forces are alleged to have repressed the protests with widespread violence.
