Countries close to Justin Trudeau, which have spoiled relations with India, have now shown him their status. Despite the serious allegations made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who is enjoying the support of Western countries, America and Britain have expressed their intention to further strengthen their relations with the Modi government. Trudeau had previously claimed that Indian diplomats monitored Sikh separatists living in Canada and intimidated, blackmailed or killed them. However, these claims of Trudeau have been ridiculed, India has repeatedly asked for evidence regarding these absurd statements but the Canadian government has not been able to provide concrete information in this regard.
The gap in relations between India and Canada increased further
The dispute began last year when Trudeau accused India of being involved in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Sikh terrorist in British Columbia. Now Canada has alleged that Indian officials carried out many more illegal activities on Canadian soil. Canada on Monday expelled six Indian diplomats after India refused to lift their diplomatic immunity. In response, India also sent back six Canadian diplomats.
Trudeau was shown his worth by his own people
According to Bloomberg report, these allegations of Trudeau were raising questions about the relations of western countries with India, but the statements issued by America and Britain on Tuesday said that there is no major change in their approach. US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said, “We have made clear that these allegations are extremely serious and should be taken seriously.” However, he also said that India is an extremely strong partner of the US and plays a major role in the Indo-Pacific region. Meanwhile, Trudeau spoke to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on phone but India was not named in his statement. Regarding their conversation, it was said that both the leaders agreed on the importance of rule of law and said to remain in touch till the investigation is completed.
Why is India important for western countries
Western countries are considering India as an important strategic partner in recent years, especially against the growing influence of China. Western countries have given special importance to India. While Britain is working on a free trade agreement with India, the US is collaborating with India in the areas of defence, clean technology and energy.
