Saffron flag installed on Azadi Pillar in Chittagong, now it has been removed
In Chittagong, Bangladesh, police have arrested two minority Hindu youths on charges of insulting the national flag. A case has been registered against them for hoisting the saffron flag above the national flag at the Azadi Pillar in New Market, Chittagong. Other 17 people have also been made accused in this case.
In fact, on October 25, Sanatan Jagran Manch had organized a rally at Laldighi Ground in Chittagong regarding its 8-point demands. During the rally, some people hoisted the saffron flag on the Azadi Pillar at New Market Chowk. 'Aami Sanatani' was written on this flag.
After the incident, Firoz Khan, a resident of Mohra area, had registered a case at the Kotwali police station. In the case, the police arrested two accused Rajesh Chaudhary and Hriday Das on October 30.
In Bangladesh, flying a flag of any other color above the national flag is a violation of the rules.
Case registered against ISKCON secretary also
Chittagong ISKCON Secretary Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari alias Chandan Kumar Dhar has also been made an accused in this case. Earlier on August 6, an ISKCON temple was targeted in Khulna district of Bangladesh.
In this the idols of Lord Jagannath were burnt. After this attack, Chinmay Das had said that three other temples in Chittagong are also under threat. But the Hindu community is working together to protect them. Das said that to escape the violence, Hindus are taking refuge in India through Tripura and Bengal. Chinmoy Das has been raising the issue of security of Hindu temples for a long time.
Rally was held against violence against Hindus
Since the fall of the government in Bangladesh recently, many cases of violence against the minority Hindu community have come to light. In August, 205 cases of attacks on Hindus were reported in 52 districts of Bangladesh. A rally was organized in Chittagong in protest against this. After the change of power in August, cases of forced resignation from minorities were also reported.
According to Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, resignations were taken from 49 teachers belonging to the minority community after the formation of the new government in the country.
The name of Islamic organization Hefazat-e-Islam has been appearing in attacks against minorities in Bangladesh. This organization faces allegations ranging from opposition to Prime Minister Modi's visit to Bangladesh to attacks on Hindus and temples.
Hifazat-e-Islam, which was opposed to Sheikh Hasina because she is secular, also advocates the implementation of Sharia law in the country.
