Trump threatens Russia to stop war in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose higher taxes, tariffs and sanctions on Russia unless the war in Ukraine ends. Trump made the threat in a post on Wednesday (January 22) on Truth Social, the social media platform he owns. British media reported the news.

In the post, Trump mentioned his 'love' for the Russian people and his 'good relationship' with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Then he directly warned, 'Stop this senseless war!'

The situation will only get worse, he wrote. If no agreement is reached quickly, I will have no choice but to impose higher taxes, duties and sanctions on any Russian products being sold in the United States and other participating countries.

Trump also wrote, “Now is the time to make a deal.” There should be no further loss of life.

Russia is already the most sanctioned country in the world. However, the country's banks and military industrial establishments have been able to use strategies to avoid existing sanctions.

Although there are some sectors that are outside the scope of sanctions imposed by the United States and Europe, it is believed that imposing new restrictions on them may create more complications in the global economy.
