Trump and Kash Patel first met in 2016.
America's newly elected President Donald Trump has appointed Indian-origin Kashyap Kash Patel as the next director of the investigating agency 'Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Trump announced this in a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Saturday.
In this post, Trump also praised Kash Patel's past work. Before this, Kash Patel had worked as Chief of Staff in the Defense Ministry, Deputy Director in National Intelligence and Senior Director of Anti-Terrorism Programs in the National Security Council during Trump's first term.
Kash Patel called America's first fighter
Trump said that I am proud that Kashyap Kash Patel will serve as the next director of the FBI. Kash is a brilliant lawyer and investigator. Praising Kash Patel, Trump called him an 'America First' fighter. Trump said Kash Patel has spent his career exposing corruption, defending justice and the American people.
Trump said that Kash Patel has been given this responsibility to deal with the increasing crime rate in America, criminal gangs and crimes like human and drug smuggling taking place on the border.
Kash Patel will serve under Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Born in Gujarati family, parents fled Uganda
Kash Patel is the son of Indian immigrants. He was born in a Gujarati family. Kash Patel's parents fled to the United States via Canada in the 1970s, fearing Ugandan ruler Idi Amin's order to leave the country. After Patel's father got American citizenship in 1988, he got a job in an airplane company.
After completing his law degree in 2004, when Patel did not get a job in a big law firm, he started working as a government lawyer. However, he had to wait for 9 years for his dream job.
Kash Patel joined the Justice Department in Washington in 2013. Here, three years later, in 2016, Patel was appointed as an employee in a standing committee related to intelligence matters. The chief of this department was David Nunes, a staunch ally of Trump.
Patel was included in a committee formed on Russian interference in the 2016 elections. It was while working on this that he first came into Trump's notice.
According to a New York Times report, during his presidency, Trump had put pressure on Ukraine in 2019 to gather information about Joe Biden's son. Because of this the opposition became angry at him. To avoid any legal complications, Trump formed a team of advisors to help in this matter. Kash Patel's name was also included in this. Then everyone was surprised to see his name.
Kash Patel continued climbing the ladder of promotion after joining the Trump administration in 2019. He stayed in the Trump administration for only 1 year and 8 months, but came into everyone's attention. In a report by magazine The Atlantic, Patel has been described as a person who would 'do anything for Trump'.
In the Trump administration, where almost everyone was already loyal to Trump, he was also counted among Trump's most loyal people. This is why many officers were afraid of him.
Kash Patel has also written many songs for Trump, in which he has been described as a patriot.
Wrote a book on Trump, became helpful in that too
Kash Patel has worked as a senior advisor to the Director of National Intelligence. During this period he looked after the functioning of 17 intelligence agencies. While holding this post, Patel was involved in many important matters. He has also been involved in the mission to bring back several American hostages besides the elimination of ISIS leaders, al-Qaeda leaders like Baghdadi and Qasim al-Rimi.
After Trump left office, Kash Patel has been trying to promote the former president's agenda. Kash has written a book titled “Government Gangsters: The Deep State, the Truth, and the Battle for Our Democracy.” In this he has told how widespread corruption is in the government.
Kash Patel has also written a book, The Plot Against the King, to make Trump popular among children. In this, he played the role of a magician, who helps Trump in saving him from Hillary Clinton. At the end of the story the magician succeeds in convincing people that Trump did not gain power by deceiving Hillary Clinton.
Kash Patel also oversees the functioning of Donald Trump's social media platform 'Truth'. Patel also served as a security advisor for Qatar during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
