Bomb threat messages were received on seven flights on Tuesday through posts on social media platform 'X', prompting security agencies to carry out specific anti-terrorist drills at various airports. Meanwhile, a bomb threat was also received in an Air India Express flight from Madurai to Singapore. After which the Singapore Armed Forces sent two fighter planes to take the plane away from the populated area. After which the plane landed safely at Changi Airport in Singapore.
A bomb threat was received in Air India Express flight number IX 684 from Madurai to Singapore. Singapore's Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen said that Air India Express had received an email informing them that a Singapore-bound flight contained a bomb.
“Two of our RSAF F-15SG aircraft diverted the aircraft away from populated areas and landed safely at Singapore Changi Airport at approximately 10:04 pm tonight,” he said in his post on X. Ground Based Air Defense (GBAD) systems and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) were also activated. He said that after the plane landed, it was handed over to the airport police and investigation into the matter is going on.
It is noteworthy that the number of passengers on board the plane could not be immediately known. At the same time, till the time of writing the news, no statement has come from Air India Express on this incident.
