The son of a cancer-stricken woman stabbed a doctor 7 times in Tamil Nadu, India, for allegedly giving him wrong treatment. He complained that the doctor gave wrong medicine to his mother.
The seriously injured doctor's name is Dr. Balaji Jagannathan. He is a cancer specialist. He had injuries on his chest and head. Health Minister M Subramaniam said that the injured doctor is undergoing treatment in the ICU. Now his condition is out of danger.
A senior doctor of the hospital said, 'The injured doctor himself is suffering from a heart attack. He has a pacemaker in his chest. After the incident we found injury marks on his forehead, neck and stomach.'
Hospital security personnel arrested the attacker. He said his mother is a cancer patient. He did this out of anger because the doctor 'gave him the wrong medicine'.
According to the police, after the incident, the accused youth tried to escape. Later, the security personnel of the hospital caught him and handed him over to the police.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has ordered an inquiry into the incident. He said, the safety of doctors must be ensured at work.
After the attack, the doctors of that hospital stopped all medical services except emergency services. They are demanding adequate security measures for doctors.
